Introduction

What is JNVST?

JNVST is an entrance exam conducted at national level for the admission into class 6 in more than 600 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in India. JNVs are co-educational residential schools established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to provide quality education to talented rural children. JNVST aims to select students based on their merit and aptitude, irrespective of their socio-economic background.

Why is JNVST important?

JNVST is important because it offers a golden opportunity for rural students to get access to free education, boarding, lodging, uniforms, textbooks, and other facilities in JNVs. JNVs follow the CBSE curriculum and provide a conducive environment for learning and holistic development of students. JNVs also promote national integration by having a reservation of 75% seats for rural candidates and a provision of migration of students from one JNV to another in a different linguistic region.
